Before the battle of Pasola the horse must be blessed by Rato (the Sumbanese spriritual leader). Pasola is an ancient tradition from the Indonesian island of Sumba. Categorized as both extreme traditional sport and ritual, Pasola is an annual mock horse warfare performed in response to the harvesting season. In the battelfield, the Pasola warriors use blunt spears as their weapon. However, fatal accident still do occurs.
